We all went up to the snow for Megan's birthday and had fun sledding! Later Megan and I went to get pedicures...walking out in flip-flops was cold! Happy birthday dear daughter! We love you very much and are so glad to be here with you!
Isn't this beautiful? I received this cactus when I was sick back in 2005 and now it is blooming again! It has nearly 40 flowers on it! I can hardly believe it cause I don't have a green thumb. This only blooms at Christmas time-just thought I'd share the wonder of it with you.
Happy Birthday Mom!
Today is officially my mom's 80th birthday. Too bad she's spent the last couple of days in the hospital with my dad! He gave us quite a scare but he's doing better and came home today-which of course is the best present ever! Love you, mom!
This past weekend I went down to Palm Desert (thanks so much Crissie for driving down with me!) to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday. She invited several of her friends to Augusta's restaurant. Our longtime family friend, Toni, also came down. The ladies shared one word to describe my mom-generous, kind, loving, funny (all true!) and even swears (at bridge club-"Mother!" I said). Sandy's word was, "Damn good looking for 80 years old!" I also gave her cards to read that Megan, Amanda, Tiffany and Sophia had sent, wishing their Gram and GeeGee birthday love. Another friend, Helen, shared a funny poem that Julie Andrews rewrote for her 69th b-day to her tune from Sound of Music "These are a few of my favorite things" about aging. Toni gave a moving toast to mom that brought a few tears. Then we went over to Mark and Sandy's where the rest of mom's family could join in on the celebration. Blowing out the birthday cake (yes, it is the famous coconut cake!) was quite a production with everyone getting in on it! Mom is blessed with 2 wonderful children, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren! It was a wonderful day, special day with family and friends. We love you, mom!
On Tuesday night we had our women's Christmas fellowship and cookie exchange. The tables were decorated with nativity scenes (great idea , Kimber); Barbie, Sylvia, Diane and Renee led us in singing Christmas carols and '12 Days of Christmas' with each table acting out their day (much laughter); Debi shared about the 'Joy of Bethlehem'; Lawren gave a flower arranging demonstration and I showed how to make your own Christmas cards. Then we enjoyed LOTS of wonderful cookies. I made the chocolate dipped coconut ones. Yummm! It was a wonderful way to begin this blessed Christmas season.
Every year Tiffany and Sophia have helped me set up my little Christmas tea miniatures. I thought of them as I was setting them up and remembered how much fun we had. This tree also has little miniature ornaments on it. Girls, can you find Dorothy's red shoes and Glenda's wand and crown from the Wizard of Oz? What else do you see?
Sock Hop 2007
Finally! Better late than never, as the saying goes, I have pics of our awesome 'Sock Hop'! After 29 years of it being the 'Hallelujah Hoedown' for Halloween, there was much praise for a change in themes. Everyone got into the spirit of things-even Pastor Bill!
We all had a great time last night at Adrienne's 40th and Rebecca's 50th luau birthday party. Great fellowship and food up at Rebecca's folk's awesome ranch home! We're so thankful that we're even celebrating Adrienne's birthday since she gave us such a scare over the summer! Thank you Jesus!!! God Bless you both, dear friends.
